This holiday season try entertaining with one of these eye catching and delicious fruit platters. Here is the instructions on how to make one. Enjoy!

Mellon Balls:

You could use any of these fruits: Honey dews, cantaloupes, watermelons

A creative way to use the outer fruit for display or to use as a dish to hold the fruit.

1. Draw a line around the fruit about one third from the top. Use the line to guide you as you cut into the fruit. (You can cut straight or cut zigzag)

2. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon. Then scoop the inside flesh with a melon baller, set aside.

3. Smooth out the inside cavity by scraping out the remaining flesh with the melon baler or spoon.

4. You could fill with melon balls and use as a fruit dish or you could put it in the center of your fruit dish as decoration to give the dish some dimension.

* Cut the fruit in half and scoop the flesh with melon balers, an alternative to just cutting the fruit the old fashion way.

Strawberry Slices:

You could use any of these fruits: strawberries, soft pears, kiwi,

Put the stem side down and cut thin strips across the strawberry  4/5 of the way down (make sure you don’t cut all the way down!). Fan out the strawberry and serve.

Pineapple:

Cut the pineapple into quarters (leave the stem on)

Take one and carve out the flesh only, leaving the core attached to the remaining pineapple.

Take out the flesh and cut into half inch horizontal slices.

Put the slices back into the cavity of the pineapple.

Push the first slice out half way to the right, the second slice half way out the left, etc.

Repeat with the remaining 3 quarters.
